About
Why I build under the name Honor & Oak.
I am Nathan, a Marine veteran, maker, and lifelong shop kid. In high school you could not keep me out of the wood shop. I loved the smell of sawdust, the sound of machines, and the feeling of walking out at the end of the day with something real you could touch and use.
In 2018 our family needed furniture, but we did not want disposable pieces or big box prices. So I started building our own tables, coffee bars, nightstands, and cutting boards out of 2x4s, plywood, and whatever lumber I could get my hands on. What started as necessity turned into a hobby, then a passion. Friends and family began asking for pieces, and little by little the one car garage turned into a small wood shop.
I am a third generation Marine who loves God and country, and I work full time in IT. Honor & Oak is where those worlds meet. I build in a one car garage with humble but well-loved tools, and I enjoy blending traditional woodworking with just enough tech when it fits the project — hidden cable runs, soft lighting, or small moving parts that make a piece easier to live with. These days I mostly build in small batches and put pieces up for sale when they're finished, with the occasional custom project when it's the right fit. The name Honor & Oak comes from what I want every build to reflect: character, strength, and roots that go deeper than the wood itself.
